An annual meeting unavoidable
Every year in June, the great festival of Saint-Jean enlivens Villefranche-de-Rouergue for 3 days. It is one of the most important events of the year, organized by the Festival Committee in conjunction with the municipality.
The history of this festival
The Feast of Midsummer, celebrated on June 24, has its origins in the ancient pagan festivals of the summer solstice, marking the longest day of the year. In Villefranche-de-Rouergue, this tradition has been perpetuated over the centuries, integrating cultural and religious elements specific to our region.

Every year, the city streets come alive with floats decorated with flowers by local associations, schools and residents, creating a colorful parade. The parade is accompanied by brass bands and dancers in traditional costumes, transforming the city into a happy and festive carnival.
