Your itinerary
Step 1: Departure Camping le Païsserou
Start of the hike opposite the entrance to Camping le Païsserou, at the bottom of Najac. Possibility to park 200 meters further in the parking lot of the outdoor base (AAGAC).
Go down towards the river for 150 meters along the D39 then cross the Frégère bridge. Stay on the D39 for another 100 meters and turn right towards l'Espanié, Mouyragues.
Stage 2: View of the Château de Mazerolles
Climb the small, very steep road for 100 meters, then continue on the paved path which continues to climb up to a wide path.
At this crossroads, turn right and continue to climb. You can see the Mazerolles castle on the other side!
Take the grassy path on the left, follow the house on the left then continue as far as the D149. Stay on the D149 following the field for 100 meters.
Stage 3: Crossing the village of Mazerolles
[Junction with circuit 2 by taking the dirt path that descends into the forest, just at the bend]
After the bend, at the end of the field, turn left to take a path which climbs steeply to La Loubière.
After the farm, take the road on the left, then left again on the road which goes down to Puech d'Auzou. Stay on the main road which winds down to the D39.
Turn right, cross Mazerolles, a pretty village with a magnificent castle.
Step 4: Direction the Aveyron river
Continue on the D39, pass in front of the small cemetery and walk to the next intersection.
Turn left towards Singlarie / Les Gardes, continue on this road then turn left towards Les Gardes / La Farie.
Follow this tarmac road which goes down for 2,5 km to the hamlet of Pontet (small village of chalets belonging to the commune).
Arriving at the D39, turn right then immediately right towards the river. At the corner of the municipal swimming pool turn left and follow the river to return to the Frégère bridge.
(EXCEPTIONAL CLOSURE FOR A FEW WEEKS OF THE PATH ALONG THE RIVER – TAKE THE ROAD TO CIRCUMSTATE THE POOL ON THE LEFT AND NOT ON THE RIGHT AND GO TO THE BRIDGE).
Step 5: Arrival
Cross the Frégère bridge as on the way out and return to the entrance to the campsite or to the outdoor base to pick up your vehicle.
