Distance: 16,3 km
Max Altitude : 402 m
Your itinerary
Step 1: Departure from Laguépie SNCF train station.

Exit the station and turn left onto Avenue de la Gare. At the end, take the first road down to the right, "Chemin de Saint Cambraire," and reach the banks of the Aveyron. Follow the right bank of the Aveyron River, following the GR1 as close as possible to the banks for 36 km. You will come to a large wooden sign just before a stream; it marks the boundary between the Tarn-et-Garonne and Aveyron.
Step 2: Cross the bridge and arrive in Aveyron

After the stream, turn right and continue along the banks of the Aveyron. Cross a wilder area: you enter the heart of the Aveyron Gorges. Cross a rocky chaos. Climb up the stone steps. Cable for the hands on the left to facilitate your progress. It is possible to follow the banks but this should be avoided when the Aveyron is too high (winter and spring).
Step 3: Cross the small wooden bridge and climb back up to Mergieux

Arriving at a small wooden bridge over the Loubezac stream. Cross it and continue to the right. Go under the SNCF bridge. Continue straight ahead on the wide track that climbs. From there, leave the banks of the Aveyron. When you reach the top, you're in Mergieux, a former holiday village. Cross a national forest of Douglas fir trees. Go down. Cross a small stream, go back up, and find the road again. Just outside the hamlet of Bastit, on your right, a photo stop is a must! Superb view of the entire village of Najac.
Step 4: Panorama and direction Najac

After the viewpoint, take the track that descends. Be careful after the bend, leave the track to take a small path on the left that descends. Then descend through the undergrowth to the Saint-Blaise bridge. Go back up towards the village of Najac via Rue de la Pause. Reach the Church of Saint-Jean l'Evangéliste. From there, take Rue de l'Eglise to the Porte de la Pique. Then turn left towards the Royal Fortress. Go back down via Rue du Château. Arrive at the Governor's House. From Place Saint-Barthélémy, go back up the street. Reach Place du Faubourg.
