Description
Travel through the industrial era of the 50th and XNUMXth centuries by discovering the lime kilns of Villeneuve. This industrial heritage, extinguished since the XNUMXs, made it possible to transform limestone into lime, used to insulate homes.
PR marked in yellow by volunteers from the association "Le Randonneur" according to the FFRandonnée charter. This is circuit V3 – "Circuit des fours à chaux" (Lime Kiln Circuit).
Your itinerary
Step 1: Departure from the Sol de la Dîme car park
From the Sol de la Dîme, pass the Porte Haute, the Soubirane Tower and continue towards the village hall. From there, go down towards the Sauveté cross and then the fairground. Just before this, take the path on the left which leads to the hamlet of Les Condamines.
Step 2: Hamlet of Les Condamines
Possibility to return to Villeneuve by the path on the left, otherwise, follow the markings straight ahead. At the next intersection in the woods, possibility to return to Villeneuve again, otherwise, go down opposite to a road. Go under the railway bridge and take the path immediately on the left before the disused oven. Go up to Félicie.
Step 3: Old Villeneuve station
Take the yellow-marked path on the left to Villeneuve train station. Cross the level crossing and continue along the RD248 which climbs towards Villeneuve. After 200 m, take the path which descends to the right then climbs the stone path on the left. Cross the road and head towards Mas de Mouly. Towards the middle of the hamlet, turn right along a communal oven and then at the exit, take a grassy path. Turn left onto a stone path then straight ahead.
Step 4: Return to Villeneuve
Take the marked path on the right until the first path (elevation 411) which leads back towards Villeneuve.
