In the Charterhouse monastery of Villefranche-de-RouergueYoung and old alike can embark on a family game original “Istorias – legendary family adventures”. Riddles, discoveries and moments of complicity transform the visit into fun and immersive experience, ideal for exploring history while having fun.

The beginning of the adventure

This afternoon, we booked an "Istorias" at the Saint-Sauveur Charterhouse monastery in Villefranche-de-Rouergue . Its name is " The Grimoire of Enchanted Creatures ".

As a family, we're off for 2 hours of games, laughter and puzzles!

Upon arriving at the monastery, we were greeted by a young man who handed us an adventurer's bag, like something out of Indiana Jones . The children couldn't wait to plunge their hands into the many pockets to discover what our accessories would be!

He briefs us and explains that some monks uttered the cursed phrase; we must restore serenity to the monastery … so, let the adventure begin!!!

A life-size family game

We settle down in the park, ready to discover this bag full of surprises : map, binoculars, cards, cubes, mirror, ribbon… we wonder what kind of world we are about to be taken to!

Axel analyzes the game plan, Mélina takes out the cards and here I am, assisting my children! They guide me to best succeed in our mission… 1st step, solve a puzzle.

Between observation and wonder

Then we enter the church, the stained glass windows of the rose window are reflected on the walls…

It's absolutely splendid!

Mélina reads us the instructions and we attentively search for wood and stone sculptures , observing the details, playing with the elements present…

In the next game, you'll burst out laughing… but I won't tell you any more, it will spoil the surprise… a little tip, don't forget your phone to take a souvenir photo!

The great cloister, a suspended moment

Upon entering the great cloister, we hold our breath, how beautiful it is!

Picture

And to think that monks walked these grand avenues more than 500 years ago! Here, in a small velvet pouch, we have to find cubes and assemble them in the correct order… okay, I won't be a good architect, but the children have a good eye. In no time at all, they've got it all figured out!

A magical ending

Finally comes the moment of truth, will we succeed in the mission??? The children type in the code and then, magic , the curse is broken, their eyes light up , a "wow" and poof, it's over… back to reality!

An unforgettable memory

We had a wonderful afternoon , filled with reflection, games, and special moments . A memory to cherish, which allowed my two little rascals to discover the history of a 2th-century monument in a way that went beyond a guided tour!

Thank you for this moment of sharing!

We highly recommend it this type of game is super nice and that allows you to pass a unique family moment combining history and adventure.
And you, when will you try to break the curse?

And for those who want even more family games, there is also a legend in the Bastide of Villefranche: "In search of the miraculous relic" , game bags are on sale at the Tourist Office and in the monuments of the city!
