Looking for peace and quiet, beautiful stone buildings, and hiking? Welcome to Laramière, a small village in Quercy between Lot and Aveyron. Mysterious dolmens, a historic priory, an ephemeral lake, and typical Quercy houses... not to mention a breathtaking starry sky!

À 15 km from Villefranche-de-Rouergue and on the border of the Lot, Laramière is a typical Quercy village. With its blond stone houses, small oak woods and paths lined with dry stone walls, it's the perfect place for a stroll!

The heritage of Laramière: between priory and dolmens

No need to go to Brittany to observe dolmens, Quercy also hides some and those of Laramière are rather impressive! Enough to add a nice objective to the walk.

Laramière is also a former priory which has watched over the Caussenard countryside for centuries. The priory of the Canons Regular of Saint-Augustin was founded in 1148 by the itinerant monk Bertrand de Grifeuille. Between pillaging during the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion, changes of ownership and sale during the Revolution, it has seen it all! Today, the monument is private, but good news: you can visit it! By reservation only.

Natural curiosity: an ephemeral lake at the foot of the priory!

From November to April, you can see an “ephemeral lake” appear next to the priory. Called the Rausel lake, it welcomes migratory birds… Keep your eyes open to observe them.

And while strolling around the village, we also come across a pretty small rural heritage : old mills, dry stone huts and low walls typical of Quercy accompany your steps and recall the know-how of yesteryear
