Description

A lovely hike starting from the hamlet of Béteille in Saint-André-de-Najac towards the hamlet of Belpech, passing through country lanes and forests, with the Aveyron River running through the distance for a while. Lovely panoramas and, just after passing through the hamlet of Béteille, views of the Najac fortress.

Your itinerary

Getting to the starting point to report a problem

Step 1: Departure from the Church of the Assumption (Béteille)

Park near the church in Béteille. With your back to the church, turn right and pass between two walls (houses 61 and 76). Opposite house 17, turn left, then, in front of a white cross, take the road and pass between two farms.

Step 2: Stone Cross

At a stone cross, follow the road towards the place called La Fage where there is a new cross.
Go down to the left until you reach a crossroads at the place called Les Carbonniers.

Step 3: Dirt road suitable for vehicles

Take the small carriageway on the right and head towards a pond (on the right you will see the Najac fortress). Pass a sheepfold and enter a wood.

Step 4: Entering a wood

Go down to a stream and up to the next one. Continue climbing. At a bend, leave the small path on the right which climbs very steeply and arrive at a third stream and a path on the right.

Step 5: Stream Crossing

Continue climbing to the left and reach an intersection.

Stage 6: Fork between two meadows

Continue to the right, between two meadows, until you reach the tarmac road and towards the hamlet of Belpech. After the first houses, go up to a small crossroads.

Stage 7: Hamlet of Belpech

Then go down to the right, between two houses by the Route du Bourel, go along a grove and, after a stream, start to go back up to the village of Béteille. At the war memorial, at the pond, turn onto the road on the right to return to the starting point.
