Description

Round trip that connects the two Sauvetés of the Causse de Villeneuve (Vilanova priory of the abbey of Moissac and Sancta-Cruz-de-Marencas priory of the abbey of Figeac). Route or "transhumance trail" used by herds since the Neolithic period, between the causses and the Aubrac. Its name: "Draille du moyen Quercy en Aubrac".
This route served as the basis for the Roman road from Rodez to Cahors (Ségodunum-Divona) and by extension from Lyon to Bordeaux (Lugdunum-Burdigala). From the second half of the 10th century this path was the original route of the "Via Podiensis", the most direct route between St-Foy-de-Conques and St-Pierre-de-Moissac.
Easy, unmarked circuit. Created by the town halls of Sainte Croix and Villeneuve. Return trip on the same path. Total length: 14 km.
