Description
This easy hike will allow you to enjoy the beautiful Caussenard landscapes on the paths between fields and forest. It will take you to the Marais de Montaris, sources of the Diège.
The PR (marked in yellow) trail is maintained by volunteers from the "Le Randonneur" association according to the FFRandonnée charter. This is circuit V2 – "Circuit des sources de la Diège".
Your itinerary
Step 1: Departure from the Sol de la Dîme car park
From the Sol de la Dîme, take the pedestrian access ramp along the lawn on the north side, cross the descending street and take the rue du Sapin Vert opposite then after 200 m, take a path on the right which leads to the RD 40. Cross it and stay on the right shoulder. After 100 m, take the tarmac path marked in yellow on the right between the 2 football fields. Come to a bend and take a sunken path on the right.
Step 2: Walk on the Causse
At the top of this path is a crossroads with the possibility of returning to Villeneuve. Otherwise, continue to follow the markings until reaching a cross. Turn left towards Mas de Rousset. Cross the RD 40 and continue opposite.
Step 3: The Montaris marsh
At this point, follow the markings on the right to the sources of the Diège. Follow the resurgences and go back up the path which returns to the left towards Villeneuve. Pass in front of the large cross of the Causse located on your right after a gentle climb. Continue straight.
Step 4: Return to Villeneuve d'Aveyron
Again the RD 40. Follow it for 300 m and turn right along a restored hut then turn left at the next crossroads with a cross. Last straight line towards Villeneuve and return to the Sol de la Dîme.
