This circuit is marked with yellow PR type and is also known as “Les Châtaigneraies” circuit n°6 around Najac.
Your itinerary
Stage 1: Departure from the Place du Forail in Najac
Possibility of parking in the Sol del Barry parking lot where the postal agency is located.

Leaving the car park, go down the D39 on your left for 200 meters. In the hairpin bend turn left towards Saint André de Najac and after a few meters immediately right the 1st path on your right, path which goes down.
Stage 2: Panorama of Najac
A little further on your right, you will have a magnificent view of the village of Najac. The path passes above the Vernhe stream. Go back up the paved path. At a small source (on your left) do not take the path on the right, continue straight on the path which climbs steeply opposite. Arriving at the wide grassy path, turn right and continue until the crossroads. At this intersection do not take the track which goes up on the left, do not take the path on the right but continue opposite.
The path passes below the holiday village. Take the first small path on your right, a small right turn and a small left turn and this small path will take you to a magnificent view point over Najac.
Leave the viewpoint on your right and continue straight towards the asphalt road inside the holiday village. After 150 meters on this road, turn right onto a path. Walk 10 meters then at this point, 2 possibilities either to the left towards the hamlet of Cassagnes or to the right (Circuit Les Moulins). Choose the small path, the one on the left that goes down.
Arriving at the road, turn right towards the hamlet of Cassagnes. Turn right on the wide path which runs along the fields before entering the Aveyron gorges via a path which goes down.
Stage 3: On the banks of the Aveyron
Pass to the right under the Grèzes bridge (SNCF bridge) and follow the river for 6 km via a beautiful shaded path.
A little further on, you will discover a first mill in ruins, that of Ferragut then that of Auribal, still in good condition. The path runs along the railway line with magnificent works of art on the section from Monteils to Laguépie.
Stage 4: Ascent to the village
After this mill, the path becomes an asphalt road which joins another road, the D594. Then turn on your left and cross the St Blaise bridge. Turn immediately right onto the road which runs alongside the river.
Just before the swimming pool, turn right to follow the river on this bank. The small path leads to the Frégère bridge. Take it on your right to cross the river, then turn left to climb the old medieval hill.
(EXCEPTIONAL CLOSURE FOR A FEW WEEKS OF THE PATH ALONG THE RIVER – TAKE THE ROAD TO CIRCUMSTATE THE POOL ON THE LEFT AND NOT ON THE RIGHT AND GO TO THE BRIDGE).
At the crossroads just below the village turn right. Arriving in the alley, turn left at Place St Barthélémy to pass in front of the chapel of the Holy Family and continue straight ahead, rue du Bourguet then rue du Barriou to reach Place du Faubourg.
Towards the top of Place du Faubourg, cross the road, the Place du Sol del Barry car park is opposite.
