Boï circuit and Calvaire viewpoint – Villefranche-de-Rouergue

Distance: 9,4 km

Stage 1: Departure from Parc Saint-Jean

From the promenade (Parc du Saint-Jean car park), follow the river upstream, towards Figeac. Cross the Alzou, pass under the railway bridge and take the pedestrian access to the Côte du Calvaire opposite.

Stage 2: Along the Aveyron

Halfway up the hill, 10m after the sharp bend, turn right onto the tarmac road (dead end sign). At the farm, continue straight, then leave the driveway which leads to a beautiful residence to take the path on the right which descends to the D269. Follow the road to the left and take the first path on the right (Chemin des Moulins). At its outlet, continue on the tarmac for 700m.

Step 3: The path to La Treille

After the chaussée du moulin, take care to take the path on the left (there is a spring at the start) which climbs through the undergrowth to the plateau. Arrive at the road, turn right and, 400m further on, turn left onto the ridge path.
Here we find the ancient Roman road from Ségodunum to Divana (Rodez to Cahors) which we follow for 1200m. At the crossroads, on the tarmac, take the Route du Calvaire opposite. Arrived at the foot of the mound of the old oppidum, circumvent the barrier by the passage provided on the path which leads to the cross of the summit.

Stage 4: The ancient Roman road

Retrace your steps to turn below towards the church of Saint-Jean d'Aigremont (Romanesque chevet). Then, turn left on the road that goes up to take the first right on the Roman road which will take you back to the Côte du Calvaire to go down to the bastide.
