Villeneuve

Micro-musée des fours à chaux

Discover the industrial and working-class heritage on the border of Causse and Ségala.
Open from May to October.

The old quarry, renamed La Mélangeuse, is located at the Villeneuve d'Aveyron train station. This eight-hectare industrial complex carries a rural memory linked to limestone extraction (fat lime and limestone) and which has made it possible to fertilize thousands of hectares of crops.

The lime kilns, the largest in the area, and its old sifting mill are part of a 2000m2 complex of buildings.

The association, in a sober approach, aims to offer a territorial dynamic through various media related to socio-cultural, environmental and heritage issues. The associative project is structured around: artistic and artisanal practice and transmission; of ecological transition and environmental education ; welcoming business and association creators; as well as the history of rural working memory through the presence on site of industrial heritage.

Several projects are underway around the history and the promotion of the heritage of the industrial era of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Every year La Barrejaire takes part in the Country Heritage and Mills Days.
