I invite you to an evening of observation at Saut de la Mounine, a spectacular natural viewpoint overlooking the Lot Valley. From this rocky promontory, we will enjoy a breathtaking view of the river winding several dozen meters below, while the sky will come alive with the ceaseless flights of the cliff dwellers.

We will observe the aerial ballet of common swifts, white-bellied swifts, and swallows as they crisscross the sky at impressive speeds. True champions of flight, these birds undertake extraordinary journeys between Europe and Africa each year. I will tell you about their incredible migrations, their fascinating lifestyles, and the secrets of their evolution.

The cliffs are also home to a multitude of other species. We may have the opportunity to observe jackdaws, ravens, or even black kites that take advantage of the updrafts to soar above the valley.

And if luck is with us, some prestigious inhabitants of the area might reveal themselves: the peregrine falcon, a formidable hunter of the cliffs, the elegant booted eagle, or even the discreet eagle owl, whose presence testifies to the richness of this wild environment.

During this outing, I will also share some simple techniques for recognizing birds in flight, identifying their silhouettes, and understanding their behavior. It's a wonderful opportunity to learn to observe nature with fresh eyes and become, for an evening, a budding ornithologist.
