USP – Conférence théâtralisée : "Larzac"
Tuesday January 27 at 18:30 p.m.
Théâtre municipale Quai de la Sénéchaussée 12200 Villefranche-de-Rouergue
Larzac! A social adventure narrated and dramatized by Philippe DURAND.
Larzac! does not speak of the famous struggle of the 70s; it is barely mentioned.
Philippe DURAND is interested in what is happening today on the Larzac plateau: the lives of its inhabitants and the collective agricultural land management tool in which farmers participate. The author went to meet these inhabitants of the plateau, farmers or not, all truly invested. He recorded the exchanges, preserved the raw words and recounted the passion that drives them: their life as farmers and especially the functioning of the Société Civile des Terres du Larzac SCTL. This SCTL is a unique land model, a working utopia that requires daily involvement from everyone.
In his documentary lecture, Philippe Durand draws on the interviews he has conducted and reveals a way of life that runs counter to liberalism and productivism. This social adventure is sustainable, reflecting 40 years of experience in this exemplary collective management.
Halfway between a documented conference and a theatre, this show is another way of understanding the collaboration between the University of Shared Knowledge and the Villefranchois Cultural Spaces as part of a joint programme.
