Boris Jollivet's lecture

For decades, Boris Jollivet has roamed natural spaces to capture the little-known soundscape: the vibrations of insects, birdsong, the rustling of water and vegetation… This audio-naturalist offers us a fascinating sonic journey through the living world. Through his unparalleled acoustic recordings, he grants us access to a truly unheard-of universe. This immersion in a world we pass by without paying attention changes our perspective and leads us to a deeper understanding of the richness, fragility, and poetry hidden beneath the often-overused term "biodiversity." A stunning sound-performance lecture—to be listened to with your eyes closed!

Boris Jollivet is a sound recordist specializing in nature sounds. His signature sounds have graced the soundtracks of numerous films ( The Valley of the Wolves, The Butterfly Bird, etc.). His expertise was showcased in his contribution to Vincent Munier's film The Snow Leopard . From spider cries to whale songs, he regularly creates sound compositions for exhibitions, performances, and art installations. Beyond natural history documentation, Boris Jollivet reveals a creative talent and unveils the poetic power of these sounds that our busy lives often lead us to overlook. His work was recognized at CIMES 2002, where he received the special prize awarded by all the participating radio stations.
