Wajdi Mouawad is deeply convinced of the crucial importance of giving a voice to the 17-22 age group, and he offers a space for free thought to eight young people from the Aveyron region. Agora Jeunesse is a collective space where young adults, guided by Wajdi Mouawad, are invited to formulate their own questions—not externally imposed opinions, but intimate, urgent, and often unspoken inquiries—to be debated before an audience invited to participate in this reflection. A Shell in the Heart – Touring Production

Wahab is angry. Summoned urgently, he rushes to the hospital where his mother is dying. During this winter journey, in the midst of a snowstorm, he confronts his thoughts, his memories, the trauma of a bloody attack. His mother is going to die, and Wahab tells himself that perhaps he will finally be able to grow up and live. Against her, against the bus driver, against himself, he expresses a pent-up rage. His childhood, marked by the war in Lebanon, resurfaces. Before his mother, after this ordeal, the enraged boy becomes a man. This monologue, performed by Jean Destrem, explores the complex relationship between a son and his mother, a blend of pain and love, and the search for words to express the inexpressible.
