The Flume Quartet, composed of four young professional flautists, will give a concert on August 9, 2026 in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, at the Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs. They are supported by the association La Conciergerie est dans l'escalier.

Influenced from their beginnings by 20th and 21st-century Belgian music, the members of the ensemble are dedicated to championing the lesser-known repertoire of the flute quartet and introducing a wider audience to the diverse facets of their instrument, in various configurations ranging from piccolo to bass flute. With this in mind, they offer varied concert programs featuring arrangements of great classics and original pieces.

In addition to helping to highlight rare and original Belgian works, their repertoire also includes new compositions specially commissioned from young Belgian composers, thus contributing to the enrichment and influence of the contemporary repertoire.

The members of the Flume Quartet champion a vision of the flute quartet as a complete ensemble rich in textures, and aim to bring it out of the background to which it is often relegated.
