Presentation

Zoé is the story of a little girl whose parents are actors, which may seem completely normal, but the father is bipolar (manic-depressive they said a few years ago).

Zoé is the story of a little girl whose parents are actors, which may seem completely normal, but the father is bipolar (manic-depressive they said a few years ago).

We will see her grow up, from eight to fifteen years old, with this man whom she loves and who loves her but who keeps her alive between delirious bursts of joy and attacks of despair and anger. Fortunately, she also has a boyfriend: Victor, a school principal, a psychologist... And, little by little, especially thanks to Victor, she will emancipate herself. Julie Timmerman, author and director of this show, has accustomed us to more political, more engaged subjects such as Un Démocrate, performed in this theater and which some of you remember. Here, she chose to delve into her personal story with talent and emotion.

Given that it is a creation, at the time when we print the program we can only talk about the subject (since as members of the Federation of Friends of Popular Theater, we have read and selected this text) and the staging intentions during its presentation at the Chartreuse de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Julie Timmerman has, however, clearly indicated the very symbolic directions for staging: holes being dug, furniture turned over... which will take us into a difficult world, a world of madness from which she nevertheless managed to escape. A great message of hope!
