The show
While traversing a desolate, windswept region abandoned by men, the narrator happens to meet Elzรฉard Bouffier, a solitary old man who fills his daily life with a simple and generous action: planting trees.
Having been drawn into much larger conflicts throughout his life, such as the wars of 14-18 and 39-45, the narrator regularly returns to see the shepherd, who continues his work unperturbed. Over the course of his visits, he observes how the imperceptible, peaceful, and steady work of a single man can bring about the rebirth of an entire region. The Man Who Planted Trees speaks to us of these small gestures that change everything; of these hummingbird-like individuals who, within their limited means, contribute minimally but undeniably to the well-being of the world.
