Théâtre des Bastides Quai de la Sénéchaussée 12200 Villefranche-de-Rouergue
Theatre – Solo performance
Tales of love and misery in the vernacular.
Six texts by Jehan-Rictus, a poet from Montmartre in 1900.
The title of this play comes from the nickname given, in its time, to the author Jehan-Rictus.
He is the quintessential author of ordinary people and criminals; his unique writing makes the characters and what they experience universal: exclusion, abused childhood, violence.
It's a manifesto in support of the Poor, that good old Poor Man everyone talks about but who always remains silent. That Unlucky One everyone sees but no one looks at.
Who better to interpret all these characters than the extraordinary actress Agathe Quelquejay! She slips into the skin of each character, making them so real that we suddenly forget that on stage, it is no longer an actress we see, but a child or an old woman.
The performance is remarkable and the staging is stripped down, all in sobriety.
