Pourquoi et comment il faut sauver les langues régionales
In the minds of a majority of French people, so-called regional languages are nothing more than vulgar "patois". Why should we be upset about their erasure? However, Alsatian, Basque, Breton, Occitan and the others have nothing to envy French, except that they have not had the chance to become official languages of a State. This does not make them dialects, but minority languages, or even minoritized.
Isn't France rich in its diversity? What necessary measures will allow it to save its linguistic heritage? So that French remains our common language, without becoming our unique language!
Journalist at L’Express, Michel FELTIN-PALASpublishes a weekly newsletter dedicated to the languages of France, Sur le bout des langues, in which it vigorously defends cultural diversity.
He is the author of several works, including: Let's Save Regional Languages (Editions Héliopoles); I Have an Accent. So What? Testimonies and Investigation into a Forgotten Discrimination, with Jean-Michel Aphatie (Editions Michel Lafont); French, Such a Fabulous History (Editions Larousse), Let's Cultivate the French Language (Editions Héliopoles).
He also regularly gives lectures on French and the languages of France and posts videos on his YouTube channel.
