Léo Mouysset, Summer Postcard Never Sent
Tuesday July 14 at 14:00 p.m.
L'Atelier Blanc, art contemporain en Aveyron 21 rue de la République 12200 Villefranche-de-Rouergue
Installation as part of the exhibition "Ballade à quatre temps pour un été": invitations to the winners of the public prize of the Prix Jeune Création de L'Atelier Blanc.
The postcard is considered here as an ambiguous object: simultaneously a souvenir, a circulating image, and an archive. Associated with the imagery of summer, it conveys stereotypical landscapes and an idealized vision of the world, transformed into reproducible, consumable, and then disposable images.
In the exhibition, these postcards transcend their status as flat, circulating images. Reproduced in ceramic, enlarged, or repositioned within the space, they become sculptural objects, but also vehicles for resistance and marginalized narratives. The familiar motifs they evoke—beaches, sunsets, popular animal figures—then appear as visual constructions shaped by the logics of consumption and desire.
