Musée Champollion – Les Ecritures du Monde Place Champollion 46100 Figeac
As part of its temporary exhibition "Japan, a History of Characters," the museum invites you to a Japanese Day. This event, led by Japanese artists and creators, will allow you to discover Japanese culture.

To celebrate and deepen your understanding of Japan, the museum is partnering with the Occitanie Japan Festival and, through its exhibition "Japan, a History of Characters," is offering a series of talks and workshops. These events, all led by Japanese artists and creators, provide numerous opportunities to learn about Japanese culture while discovering its writing systems.

Schedule of the day:

– at 10:30 am: Japanese calligraphy workshop for young people (12-17 years old)
– at 14:30 am: Japanese calligraphy workshop for adults
Workshops led by Yoko Amiel, specialist in sumi-e (ink drawing) and haiga (haiku with drawings and Japanese Kana calligraphy).

– at 16:30 am: Introduction to the tea ceremony (Urasenké)
Initiation led by Sosetsu Kuroda

- at 18h: Presentations of traditional hairstyles and Japanese kimonos
Introduction led by Yoko Sawa, instructor of kimono and Japanese hairstyles

– at 19:15 pm: Japanese buffet (subject to change)

– at 20:30 p.m. Educational Koto Concert with Etsuko Chida, musician and performer

 

This day is offered as part of the Occitanie Japan Fortnight and its exhibition "Japan, a history of characters"
