JEP 2024 – L'église de Villeneuve-d'Aveyron
Founded in the middle of the 11th century by a lord returning from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, the church of Villeneuve adopts a plan inspired by that of the Holy Sepulchre. This is also the reason for the pilgrimage, but to Compostela, which incited the commissioning of a painted cycle dedicated to the cult of Saint James at the beginning of the 14th century.
In line with the national theme of the European Heritage Days "Heritage of routes, networks and connections", the visit will allow us to retrace the history of this building and discover the legend of the Hanged Man...
