In Hugo 1802, Hugo and Victor, played by two actors, form a hilarious and poetic duo.
The two actors together recount the story of Victor Hugo in a "humorous historical" show, from his birth in Besançon in 1802 to his death in Paris in 1885. They revisit the writer's life for an hour, each in their own style.
We will have the white clown, like a lecturer who takes his mission very seriously, at least initially, and the Auguste who is constantly off-topic.
All facets of the writer are evoked: his poems, his novels, the events that marked his life, his "womanizing" side too... Hugo is rooted in his time, but he remains relevant because he denounced poverty and took a stand on social issues such as the death penalty.
A complementary duo of actors who light up the stage with their talent and rapport. Their chemistry is so natural that it brings every moment to life, from bursts of laughter to moments of emotion. It's impossible not to leave captivated.
There is no doubt that this show will make you want to read or reread the works of Victor Hugo.
The two performers complement each other perfectly. While using humor, they give us a real lesson in history and French.
