Participate in the inipi (Lakota sweat lodge) ceremony of purification and rebirth.
The inipi (or sweat lodge) is an ancient Lakota ceremony of rebirth and purification. One enters the womb of Mother Earth to be reborn. This ceremony is presented as a means of direct communication with the Spirits.
Sharon Evans has been following the Red Way (Lakota spiritual path) for nine years. In order to lead the inipi (sweat lodge) ceremony, she had to participate in a minimum of four Sun Dances, complete four vision quests, be familiar with the sacred chants (prayers), and receive permission from a recognized elder. Sharon returns to the United States each year to participate in the Sun Dance and continue her training on this path.
