Exposition : S’emballe et un sucre – Hors-Loge

Among the most collected commercial graphic items are bottle caps, coasters, matchboxes, stickers, and keychains. Phone cards and pins, on the other hand, only enjoyed a surge in popularity for about a decade, primarily the last decade of the 20th century. Even venerable blotting paper and chocolate bar images have largely disappeared from the scene… More niche collectors are passionate about packaging related to a very common and addictive product: sugar. A collector's note: Sugar cubes, sachets, sticks, and individual packets… All these individual sugar wrappers that I've been collecting for about thirty years are finally coming out of the closet thanks to "S'emballe et un sucre" (Gets Wrapped Up with Sugar), a minimalist exhibition. A recent internet search revealed that I'm not alone and that a term exists for collectors like myself: • Glycophile, nm: someone who collects the sugar packaging along with the sugar itself. • Periglycophile, nm: someone who collects only the packaging (and who often goes to the dentist). It is therefore as a glycophile that I invite you to discover part of my collection through more than two hundred sugars categorized by theme. This exhibition brings together approximately 30 thematic displays of sugar packaging as well as two explanatory panels (the history of packaged sugar and related objects).
