Exposition â PAPILLION : AVANT-GARDE TĂTUE ET MĂCONNUE
Thursday, February 12 at 10 a.m.
La Manufacture 19 place Bernard Lhez 12200 Villefranche-de-Rouergue
A spirit "curious and open to all sonic and visual expressions, danced and spoken, from all over the world."
Papillion integrates what he sees and hears into a very personal universe, illustrated both by Novel Ăptic's drum kit, painted or sculpted,
the tributes to Manciet or René Duran, the abstract paintings, the angle grinder cuts, etc.
In his world, music and visual art respond to each other, intersect and merge. His visual art, through the choice of supports and elements (enamel sheets, agricultural tools, the bottoms of paint pots, dried pears, glue, feathers, objects or remains picked up from the ground, etc.) and their shaping, is a formidable snub to past or present avant-gardes.
He possesses an inventiveness and a sense of irony that Duchamp lacked, and as such, he can get away with anything. And he does. And as an added bonus, emotions and feelings surface in his work, making it feel close to us.
As part of the Setmanas Occitanas organized by the IEO del Vilafrancat.
