Exposition : Alice Dourlen – Les Hauts Parleurs

"Some were done in bed (I love drawing in bed with my coffee even if sometimes it spills in the sheets and it's super annoying).

I have in a folder full of small cut-out papers, little "scenes" that I have selected and collected over the years, most of them feed into obsessions (hands, eggs, bodies, women,...).

Then I have fun putting them together, telling myself a story, finding hidden meanings, and finally building a dream, a lucid dream, inventing an absurd scenario that ultimately makes perfect sense (to me). I did these drawings one after another, three or four a week! (year 2023).

I am primarily a musician, but when I draw it's to respond to an immediate need for creation, an urgency to create, to express myself; it's easier (for my eyes, my hands, my heart) to pull out the famous shirt, it's faster and more practical, and the need to speak, to express poetry, is thereby satisfied!
