Concert : L'Orchestre Départemental d'Harmonie de l'Aveyron

The Aveyron Departmental Wind Orchestra has existed for about forty years. It has welcomed into its ranks several hundred musicians from the wind orchestras of the Aveyron department as well as from the Conservatory. Its unique characteristic is that it exclusively brings together wind instruments and percussion.

Placed under the musical direction of Mikaël Chamayou and managed by the Departmental Federation of Musical Societies of Aveyron (FDSMA), with the support of the Department of Aveyron, this group now brings together more than thirty amateur musicians.

Its repertoire, particularly eclectic, is renewed every year. This season, the orchestra will notably perform an original work composed especially for it by Bastien Maury, saxophonist, arranger and composer.

After classical and jazz training, Bastien Maury now divides his time between performing and teaching. He performs with several groups, including Panda's Cover Gang, The Other Big Band, Funky Style Brass et amblar, a project within which he composes part of the repertoire. At the same time, he teaches jazz saxophone as well as music theory (classical, jazz and contemporary music) at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse.

In addition to this date in Monteils, the Aveyron Departmental Wind Orchestra will perform in concert:

• Saturday, September 19th at the European Centre in Conques;

• Sunday, October 4th at the Vézins-de-Lévézou village hall;

• Saturday, November 21st at the Baraqueville village hall.
