Dating back to Greco-Latin antiquity in southern Italy, the tarantella is a dance

magical and therapeutic, emblematic of an agricultural civilization that is both harsh and

extraordinarily alive, destined to ward off the mortal dangers that were believed

related to the tarantula bite. To cancel the spider's venom, one had to dance,

for hours and sometimes days, until exhaustion, to the sound of music

wild, leading the dancers into a saving trance.

It is this centuries-old tradition, anchored deep in memories, that
