Concert « Bacchanale baroque » pièces de Marin Marais, François Couperin, Antoine Forqueray et Jean-Philippe Rameau
“Baroque Bacchanal” pieces by Marin Marais, François Couperin, Antoine Forqueray and Jean-Philippe Rameau
Alice Julien-Laferrière, violin
Mathieu Valfré, harpsichord by Philippe Humeau after Gräbner, from the Château de Bournazel
Many musicians of the Age of Enlightenment were inspired by mythology and
more particularly by the figure of Bacchus. The ancient origin (therefore respectable)
of his prowess allowed him to approach sensitive themes with regard to morality
or decency: grotesque laughter, debauchery, drunkenness...
Offering a space of freedom, the Bacchanalia are a central subject of art, of
Renaissance in the 18th century. Inseparable allies, music and wine make you sing
the daily life of humans since the dawn of time. Alice Julien-Laferrière and Mathieu
Valfré invites the public to share the intoxication of baroque sounds in this
intimate program. The more than abundant musical repertoire on this theme brings them
an inexhaustible source of material to evoke Bacchus, god of wine, theater,
intoxication and illusions, but also protector of trees and spring renewal.
