Workshops with artist Célie Falières and exploratory visits with Annie Rougier from the Pays d'art et d'histoire des Bastides du Rouergue around the future house of L'Atelier Blanc.
At 21 rue de la République in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, time stands still. The Atelier Blanc will soon occupy this house in the heart of the bastide. Composed of exploratory visits and three distinct but complementary modules, the enigmatic workshop invites participants to read the signs of the house, to seek the spirit of the place in the peeling wallpaper, the exposed lathwork, the engravings, and the light filtering through the shutters.
Sibylline refers to something difficult to understand, whose meaning appears mysterious. The sibyls were Roman priestesses who claimed to communicate with the afterlife.
Exploratory visits Explore the place and exchange ideas freely, to immerse oneself in it, imagine its history, its evolution, who lived there, when and how…
Chichiga (Slavic spirit of the house) A workshop to transform oneself, through costume making and staging, into the guardian spirit of the house.
Kami (Japanese spirit of the place) An analog retouching and photo editing workshop, to capture and imagine something of the light and spaces before the change.
Tonttu (guardian spirit of a Finnish place) A drawing, engraving and printing workshop focused on the traces contained in each piece.
