Presentation
Discover works from private collections echoing the Brache/Bonnefoi collection visible at the abbey!
Organized by the Cultural Association of the Abbey of Beaulieu-en-Rouergue, the exhibition Collections around Beaulieu highlights three private collections. The emphasis is on the pictorial creation of the 1950s and 1960s, marked by lyrical abstraction, reminiscences of cubism, traces of surrealism and the place given to informal art. Rub shoulders with Bissière, Atlan, Bryen, Bazaine, Debré, Germain, Manessier, Geer Van Velde, Ruth Francken, Ipoustéguy, Jean Piaubert, Dado, Louis Pons...
Through a dialogue between conceptual artist Claude Rutault and curator Jean-Hubert Martin, these individual stories are confronted with the artist's approach.
This exhibition questions the approach of collectors, the fact of collecting, the desire inherent in this desire to acquire. Feel this continuous movement which oscillates between possessing and desiring.
