We are in the month of August, I want to make the most of summer, its hot days, its long, balmy evenings and the vitality that takes hold of towns and villages at this time of year.
A trip to the Festival in Bastides
With my family, we take a trip to Festival in Bastides ! Where laughter crosses the squares, where magic and theater have no limit! During this event, creativity is in the spotlight! The streets are lively and it is a real pleasure to enjoy these shows. We laugh in front of a comedy, we remain amazed in front of spectacular acrobatics, we stamp our feet to the sound of music...
This artistic and friendly atmosphere follows me from villages to bastides, from Villefranche via Villeneuve to Najac… Children accompanied by their grandparents have fun, groups of friends meet around a drink, each one composes his program on the 6 festival days.
Gourmet break at the night market
After a beautiful day in the sun, I don't stop there! Summer evenings are the best in our villages! With friends I go to Najac night market for a real moment of sharing. When I arrive, I follow the sound of the music… A group makes the people around me dance, the smell of the stands fills my taste buds! I want to taste everything! Between the farçous, the sausage aligot, or even the fouace, the local producers make us want to taste their local specialties ! My choice is made, my plate is full.
I manage to find a place near the group which covers classic French songs on the accordion. The square is lively, the accents sing and the glasses clink! Le meal is tasty and generous, I was thinking of reserving myself to also taste the truffade but that will be for another time! We exchange with a family installed in front of us and a couple of inhabitants of the village! The friendly atmosphere leads us to tell anecdotes about the traditions of the village. This is what I like the most, these moments of sharing, the pleasure of meeting people and being together!

We continue… Until the end of the night
The evening is far from over! In the neighboring village, everyone gathers for a festive night filled with good humor! The festival committee has set up a long bar and serves us a glass of beer. We soon join other friends, the dance floor awaits us… That's what I prefer: dancing! We let off steam on the track, we sway to Latin tunes, we sing traditional songs whose lyrics everyone knows. Time flies…
After the evening, I join my friends at the camp, where we pitched our tents the day before to try to get some sleep, memories and music in my head!
And the next day, we start again!
The sun is rising, so to start the day off right, I go to the village hall at 8 a.m. for a traditional lunch ! Yesterday evening was great, I find my friends, the village elders and the festival committee to taste the famous tripoux. This intergenerational moment is very common the day after votive celebrations, an experience in its own right... The atmosphere is always there, and everyone likes to talk about their evening, which is generally rather comical!
